Notes and Reminders:
-Please sign up for a time slot for report card pick-up. Available spots are listed on the blog. Report Card Pick-Up and conferences are schedule for Thursday, April 16thfrom noon to 6pm.
-April is boys’ month for snacks. Please send in some if you have not already.
-I hope everyone was able to rest and relax for Spring Break.
-Many children have been complaining about illness right when they arrive at school. It is difficult on my end to gauge when a child is truly sick and what the circumstances are around the illness. Please check in with your child on what they can do proactively to feel better: drink water, eat a healthy breakfast, etc.
This week we will reread The Dot by Peter Reynolds. We will focus on story structure and the strategy analyze/evaluate. We will learn about r controlled vowels like ar, or and ore. We will also focus on compound words. We will learn about the prefix re-. We will finish our class book on our favorite places, using what we have learned about opinion writing. We will review some missed concepts and skills from quarter three, including contractions, digraphs and blends.
In math we will finish Unit 6. We will review telling time in 5 minute increments. Students will practice using the Student Reference book. We will review frames and arrows and name collection boxes. We will have a data day and make a bar graph. We will also learn a new game called Beat the Calculator. In science we will observe two aquatic plants and animals and build aquariums. In social studies we will make a family traditions book.
